2025 Pivotal for AI Agents Led Crypto Innovations

As AI agents become the talk of the town, venture firm Multicoin Capital has released its predictions for the new year. The firm expects 2025 to be a pivotal year for AI.

In a January 7 report titled “Frontier Ideas For 2025,” Multicoin Capital has penned the key trends to watch in 2025.

The Rise of Zero-Employee Companies

As AI models become capable of thinking, planning, executing, and self-correcting without human involvement, Multicoin Capital has predicted that ‘zero-employee’ companies will be a trend in 2025.

The idea behind zero-employee companies lies in their ability to operate with minimal human oversight. With tools like OpenAI’s o3 and other advanced chain-of-thought reasoning models, AI agents are becoming increasingly proficient at autonomously carrying out complex tasks.

“In order for a Zero-Employee Company to function, it will need human guidance as inevitably the AI will make mistakes and probably exceed its context window. Over time, I expect the degree of human guidance to decrease as AIs continue to improve self-correction and expand context windows,” Multicoin Capital analyst Kyle Samani wrote.

He added that decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), which will govern their activities, will be a key enabler of zero-employee companies. Crypto capital markets will also play a crucial role in funding these ventures and providing the necessary capital.

Moreover, Multicoin Capital’s predictions echo Sam Altman’s comments that AI agents will enter the workforce in 2025. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang even called AI agents the next big leap in workforce evolution.

AI Agents to Transform Crypto Trading in 2025?

Another trend that might define 2025 is the rapid evolution of AI agents in crypto trading. In 2024, we saw AI agents primarily used for content creation and social media engagement to generate attention.

 However, as crypto and decentralized finance continue to evolve, the role of AI agents will become more specialized.

One of the exciting developments to be monitored in 2025 will be the emergence of “Alpha Hunters.” These are AI agents whose sole purpose is to identify and capture trading opportunities (or “alpha”).

With more coins flooding the market, centralized exchanges (CEXes) will struggle to keep up in 2025. This could be because of the slow listing processes of CEXes. As a result, traders will turn to decentralized exchanges (DEXes) for trading.

“Consequently, DEXes will gain market share on CEXes in the year ahead. As the number of tokens and DEX activity explodes, active traders will need more robust tools and models to identify emergent tokens, analyze sentiment and on-chain metrics,” Multicoin Capital analyst Vishal Kankani, said.

In such a scenario, Alpha hunters will gain prominence. These AI agents will scour the DEXes to analyze and mitigate risks, such as rug pulls, while executing trades autonomously.
