Arbitrum Goes Big With Web3 Gaming Showcase at WebX Asia

Arbitrum Foundation brought Web3 gaming to this year’s WebX in Tokyo, Asia’s leading Web3 conference, with a programme including panel discussions, playable demos and evening soirées.

On the show floor, hundreds of attendees stopped by the Arbitrum Foundation and ApeChain booth for the opportunity to get hands-on with playable key titles including onchain RPG Tarochi, memecoin racing title Kitty Kart Racing, and GameFi battler Gensokishi.

Also showcased were titles such as Aavegotchi, Pirate Nation, Beacon, Zeeverse and InfiniGods, as well as promo footage for Poglin Smash, Ubisoft’s Captain Laserhawk – The G.A.M.E and Sanko GameCorp.

At a panel discussion on “The role of Gaming in driving Web3 adoption,” David Bolger, gaming lead at Offchain Labs was joined by experts including gemz co-founder Justin Waldron and Oasys representative director Ryo Matsubara.

Under discussion were topics ranging from play-to-earn models and blockchain-based game assets, to the role of gaming in introducing mainstream audiences to Web3 concepts and technologies.

Bolger also took part in ApeCoin’s official WebX side event ApeSummit, a showcase of the Ape ecosystem in collaboration with Arbitrum and Horizen Labs, to discuss Ape x Arbitrum – State of the Nation.

Arbitrum’s presence at WebX Asia marked the final step in its Road to WebX campaign, which launched with the IVS Arbitrum night in Kyoto, featuring panel discussions on Arbitrum adoption and the blockchain’s latest features.

Arbitrum’s WebX festivities kicked off with the first ever Arbitrum Gaming & NFT Night at Shibuya’s NOX Gallery, the first physical NFT gallery in Japan. There, over 150 attendees enjoyed a retro arcade themed party showcasing some of Arbitrum’s biggest Web3 titles and NFT projects such as Aavegotchi, Pirate Nation, Beacon and Azuki, alongside cyberpunk-infused DJ sets and cocktails.

WebX Asia also saw the Arbitrum Foundation launch a strategic partnership with Lotte Group’s next-generation metaverse platform Caliverse, to build a metaverse on the chain. Lotte Group is a South Korean multinational conglomerate known for its operations in industries including food, retail, tourism, and chemicals, with significant presence in both South Korea and Japan.

In a statement, Lotte Caliverse CEO Kim Dong-gyu said that Arbitrum was “the optimal partner in terms of speed, safety, and philosophy in terms of the overall environment and infrastructure” for Caliverse’s planned Web3 ecosystem. “We will do our best to build a Web3 ecosystem that will surprise the world together with Arbitrum,” he added.

The Arbitrum Foundation is committed to continuing to build out its Japan community by increasing the amount of activations and support within the region, so expect more big things to come in the near future.
