World Mobile Partners With DITO CME to Boost Internet Connectivity in the Philippines Via Blockchain Integration

World Mobile – a decentralized mobile network built on blockchain technology – shook hands with DITO CME – the holding company of Dito Telecom – one of the Philippines’ fastest-growing telecommunication providers with over 13 million subscribers.

The partnership’s goal is to extend mobile and Internet connectivity to underserved rural areas in the country and innovate the local digital finance landscape through blockchain integration.

Details of the Collaboration

According to a document shared with CryptoPotato, the deal combines DITO CME’s ecosystem with World Mobile’s decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) and blockchain technology.

Its main goal is to deliver high-speed, affordable connectivity to the estimated 25 million Filipinos who currently lack reliable access to the Internet. Speaking on the matter was Micky Watkins, CEO of World Mobile Group:

“This partnership with DITO CME represents a significant milestone in our mission to democratize access to connectivity across the globe. By leveraging blockchain technology and a decentralized sharing economy model, we can empower communities and provide connectivity solutions that ensure no one is left behind.”

The collaboration also highlights the increasing adoption of Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks (DePIN), which enables shared ownership and management of vital services. This approach fosters a more inclusive and sustainable network ecosystem, benefiting communities, businesses, and operators.

DTaka’s Role

An important feature of the initiative is the introduction of DTaka – a blockchain-powered e-wallet platform that will be integrated into the DITO CME ecosystem.

It provides a stable functionality for remittances and mobile money, alongside a utility token for loyalty rewards, gamification, and other engagement activities. Thus, traditional service providers can use a blockchain-powered alternative to drive financial inclusion across the Philippines. Emmanuel Samson, CEO of DTaka, said:
